IMFL numbers of Pedro Gomes

Pedro Gomes followed up his not so good race in Kona with a start at the 2013 Ironman Florida and the fast Portuguese Pro redeemed himself with a fine 5th place in 8:08:34. He kindly shared his Garmin files with us, but he is not racing with a power meter as we speak. That however is something he is working on.

We some rumors going around that the course may be short we thought it might be good timing to post this article. And it indeed all seems to chive, plus it would be difficult to fudge the numbers of this established race, and a run course that is also used also in a Half.

"Please be aware that this' me manually starting / stopping the watch so it may be a bit off on the exact splits. For example, on the bike I started the watch just a little after T1 and stopped it right before dismount. On the run I started just a little after T2 and then stopped it a minute or two after the finish," said Gomes. Either way though, the numbers look pretty much spot on.

Below is the map that shows the course the athletes ride in Florida. One big loop with a couple out and back sections.

The charts below show the speed and the elevation Gomes handled during the bike segment.

A quick snapshot of the overall data.

Gomes ran a 2:52:59 on the 2 lap run course in Florida. This course is also used for the Gulf Coast Half triathlon.

We eliminated the elevation from this chart to keep it more compact, but you will see the total elevation at the bottom.

Here is the overall snapshot from his Garmin file.

Gomes now is preparing for Ironman Arizona on November 17. He is hopeful though that his coach Jesse Kropelnicky will get him recovered in time.
