Al-Sultan and Berasategui superb in Germany

Faris Al-Sultan led the 2008 Ironman 70.3 Germany in Wiesbaden from start to finish and held off hard charging Enrico Degasperi. Uwe Widmann finished third. Virginia Berastagui won the women's race and thus defended her 2007 title. Andrea Brede and Meike Krebs were second and third respectively.

Alexander and Carfrae victorious in Newfoundland

The bike course is pretty challenging, check out the elevation profile on the race website. Although the last 8km is a fast down hill, there are some 'interesting' climbs. Pretty much the first 17km is uphill. It's a great course.

I just competed in the 5430 long course tri in Boulder, won by Simon Thompson in 3:50. This was a fast bike course, but a tough hilly run. How could Faris (a world champ) go 20 minutes slower over the same distance? Was it a brutal course?
