Polyansky, Harrison in Tongyeong

Dmitry Polyansky recorded his second World Cup victory with a fine run in Tongyeong today. Jessica Harrison also pulled away early in the run to take the women's title and her first World Cup win.

Ivan Vasiliev and Richard Varga had great swims and led the Pro men out of the water.

Out on the bike 26 men were riding up front and before it was all said and done the group had grown to 34 athletes.

Polyansky though quickly got away from the others on the run and despite hard efforts by Jose Perez and Simon De Cuyper to reel him back in, the tall Russian would not be denied his second World Cup win. Perez finshed second and De Cuyper took third.

Line Jensen was first out of the water in the women's race with a 20 second advantage over the chasers led by Jessica Harrison.

A group of 12 eventually emerged on the bike and managed to hold off all other pursuers. By the time they reached the bike-run transition it was quite clear that the title would be decided among these twelve Pros.

Harrison though wanted to make it clear right away that she wanted to control the situation. The French athlete pulled away from the competitors right after transition and had a comfortable 30 second advantage when she crossed the finish line in Tongyeong. Harrison has been racing since 1995 and this was her first World Cup win.

"It feels pretty good, it's been a long time coming, little by little I've been getting up the ladder and I hope that could be an inspiration for the girls who aren't world beaters at (age) 18. With hard work and really concentrating on the details, you can get there in the end and I'm really happy," said a clearly elated Harrison after the event.
