Jodie Swallow of Great Britain and Sylvain Sudrie of France won their second ITU Long Distance World Championship gold medals, at Oklahoma City.

Swallow combined a women’s-fastest 1:03:31 swim, a women’s-best 3:15:50 bike split and a women’s 4th-quickest 2:15:52 run to finish in 6:37:11 with a 7:29 margin of victory over Caroline Steffen of Switzerland and 18:54 over 3rd-place finisher Rachel McBride of Canada .

Swallow’s win was her third World Championship, coming after her 2009 ITU long distance world championship and 2010 Ironman 70.3 World Championship.

Sudrie began the day with a 5th-best 57:03 swim which put him 16 seconds behind Dylan McNeice of New Zealand and Davide Giardini of the U.S. He biked a 2nd-fastest 2:57:53 split which was 2:53 slower than countryman Cyril Viennot. He closed the case with a 4th-best 2:03:23 30km run to finish in 5:59:46 with a 2:25 margin of victory over Viennot and 6:27 faster than 3rd-place finisher Matt Chrabot of the U.S.

Sudrie’s win comes seven years after his first ITU long distance World championship in Immenstadt, Germany.
