Three for Brownlee

Young Brit Alistair Brownlee appears unbeatable these days as he now has won three World Championship Series races in a row with his victory at the 2009 Kitzbühel Dextro Energy Triathlon today.
After winning the events in Madrid and Washington, all eyes were on Alistair Brownlee in Kitzbühel, Austria for race #4 in the series. Brownlee came out of the water with the lead pack but a transition fumble caused some anxious moments in the British delegation. One of his cycling shoes unclipped from the pedals, something considered a nightmare for any ITU racer. But Brownlee managed to recover from the lost shoe swiftly and soon was back in the lead pack. Rain caused some slippery conditions on the roads and couple athletes fell victim to the conditions. Beijing Olympic Games bronze medalist Bevan Docherty was the most notable of the athletes whose luck wasn't on their side, and Docherty most likely would have preferred to deal with an unclipped shoe in transition versus a crash on a descent. Coming back into T2, Paul Tichelaar and Bruno Pais had managed to gain a small gap on the main pack, but a bunch of speedy runners were ready to take charge of the race.
Out on the run, Brownlee quickly moved into the lead and left all his competitors in his wake. Later on in the run it appeared that Javier Gomez was starting to reel in Brownlee, but the Brit held on strong and crossed the line in first. Gomez was second and Laurent Vidal claimed third.
"I am delighted and suprised with my third victory. I have had a fantastic start to the season and now I look forward to racing in London." said Brownlee to slowtwitch.
