We Noticed: GoPro, POC...

This week we noticed a different sort of road rage incident, the GoPro Fetch dog harness, the POC Octal Aero road helmet, the annual CrossVegas cyclocross race and the Honeystinger Strawberry Kiwi caffeinated gel.

Cyclist road rage

Maybe cyclist road rage is not the correct term in this situation - tool measurement comparison might be more appropriate here, but it does not really matter. We all know the scenario when a cyclist or runner is passed by another person and then immediately has to speed up and race. Ken Crandall had such an encounter on a bike path and happened to have both forward and rear facing cameras on and the video below is quite entertaining. Lessons to be learned by all.
MSRP: priceless

GoPro Fetch

As we saw above, we have all kinds of options for camera mounts while we are cycling or running, but what about the dog's point of view? GoPro just launched the Fetch dog harness and that allows you to use your dog as a roving reporter, or see what he/she is up to when you are not looking. Have your dog run right behind you and you can see yourself in action. What is not to like?
MSRP: $59.99

POC Octal aero road helmet

Most people know the POC brand because of the unique looking Tempor aero helmet and endless jokes have been made about that particular helmet, and at trade shows folks seem to like nothing more tan to pose for selfies with it. But POC is about more than Fat Albert and Spaceballs jokes. The brand is very safety conscious and this year they partnered with team Garmin-Sharp. The Octal Aero helmet (and the standard Octal) resulted from that partnership and the helmet while still distinctive, no longer will make you feel like you ought to be in a cartoon. And likely, there aren't many other riders around you who sport the Octal Aero, making you a bit more of an individual.
Sizes: S, M, L
Colors: Zink Orange, Hydrogen White, Garminum Blue
MSRP: $300

2014 CrossVegas

If you happen to be in Las Vegas next week you need to check out the annual CrossVegas cyclocross race on Wednesday night. You'll see industry folks racing earlier, plus major pro action as the light starts to fade. It is each year the social highlight of Interbike and this year will likely be not different. The Desert Breeze Soccer Complex is a couple miles away from the strip at the intersection of Spring Mountain Road and South Durango Drive. Action starts at 5pm with USAC events, Elite women start at 8pm and Elite men at 9:10pm.
MSRP: $10
Date: September 10

Honeystinger Strawberry Kiwi gel

Strawberry Kiwi and Chocolate are two new caffeinated gels from Honeystinger and while I had not yet a chance to sample these gels, I have not yet tasted a single Honeystinger one that I did not like. Everyone will surely like chocolate, because who does not like chocolate. But I am now very much looking forward to trying Strawberry Kiwi.
MSRP: $33.36 (box of 24)
