What We Have Noticed: Biestmilch, fi'zi:k, Trix ...

Written by: Herbert Krabel
Date: Fri Jan 07 2011

We recently came across the Biestmilch chewy tablets, the new fi'zi:k Arione Tri 2 Carbon Braided option, the Trix Phoenix hoodie, a great New Year's greeting from Fred Belaubre, a Terenzo Bozzone commercial and the Yurbuds earphones.

Biestmilch chewy tablets

What: As an avid triathlete you have most likely come across a Pro who is sponsored by Biestmilch and 2-time Ironman World Champion Chris McCormack is one of several Pros associated with the brand. But what is Biestmilch? Biestmilch is the German word for bovine colostrum and quite a few athletes swear by this product.
Size: 30 tablets of 900mg
MSRP: €56.25
Website: biestmilch.com

fi'zi:k Arione Tri 2 Carbon Braided

What: The fi'zi:k Arione Tri 2 Carbon Braided has been updated with a grippy area towards the front of the saddle as an option for 2011. What was previously an aftermarket product is now basically factory installed with a tiny twist, but you can still get the saddle without the grippy stuff if you prefer so.
Weight: 189 grams
MSRP: $299

Trix Phoenix hoodie

What: The Trix Phoenix hoodie looks very unassuming from the front and makes quite a statement when viewed from behind. But like all other Trix items it doesn’t scream triathlon, unless you are an insider.
Sizes: S, M, L
MSRP: $55
Website: trix-gear.com

Fred Belaubre

What: French triathlete Fred Belaubre sent us this very interesting New Year greeting and in a sea of bland and often duplicated Hallmark and e-card items this unique effort was certainly the most memorable one for this editor. Plus the man has a new website too. Happy New Year Fred.
MSRP: Priceless
Website: fredbelaubre.com

Terenzo Bozzone

What: Kiwii triathlete Terenzo Bozzone is featured in a new Kellogg’s Nutri Grain commercial as an inspiration for a kid to become a triathlete. We already knew that Terenzo is quite an inspiration, but now people outside the triathlon world get to find out the same thing.

Yurbuds

What: The Yurbuds Ironman Series earphones “fell in the lap” of this editor at the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii and they found this editor well because they do indeed what they promise. They don’t literally fall out of your ears and that is especially appreciated when working out or actually just working.
Weight: 28 grams (1oz)
MSRP: $49.99
Website: yurbuds.com

Colostrum 4 out of 5 stars

Reviewed by: Jason, Jan 14 2011 8:12AM

"Taking into account the above elements and the fact that there is still scientific uncertainty on the ability for IGF-1 contained in colostrum to influence plasma levels of IGF-1, the WADA List Committee adopted a safe approach and recommends athletes not to take colostrum. Again colostrum cannot be part of a normal diet and has to be compared to a dietary supplement, with similar risks associated.”"

Nutri-Grain 5 out of 5 stars

What every happened to Nutri-Grain in the US. I remember back in the day when they were partnered with Mark Allen doing something similar. Guess Americans just didn't get it. Maybe its time for a comeback?
