Bayliss and Comerford victorious in South Africa
Stephen Bayliss showed tremendous patience and tenacity as he won the 2008 Ironman South Africa and with it, his very first Ironman title. Bella Comerford, not to be outdone by her fiance Stephen Bayliss, took the women’s race with a very strong run.
Whitfield and Snowsill win in Ishigaki
Simon Whitfield showed that he is ready for another Olympic title with a very impressive win at the 2008 Ishigaki BG Triathlon World Cup. Emma Snowsill led the women’s race from start to finish and with it claimed her 8th Word Cup title
Triathletes cover all moves at Carlsbad 5000
U.S. Olympic hopeful Jarrod Shoemaker breezed to the win in the "People's Race" in 14:32, while Julie Swail and Heather Fuhr dominated the women's 30-39 and 40-plus.
Gomez and Moffatt victorious in New Zealand
Javier Gomez overcame a 1 minute deficit after the bike to win the 2008 New Plymouth BG Triathlon World Cup and with it his ninth world cup title. Emma Moffatt won the women's title and thus most likely helped her chances for a spot on the Aussie Olympic team.
Vernay and Wellington fly in OZ
Patrick Vernay repeated his title at Port Macquarie and now has 3 Australian Ironman titles to his name. Chrissie Wellington meanwhile proved that her win in Hawaii was no fluke and took the women's race at Panther’s Ironman Australia 2008 and 9th place overall.
NZ Olympic triathlon team complete
With the addition of Shane Reed and Andrea Hewitt, the New Zealand Olympic triathlon team for Beijing is now set. Additionally, Terenzo Bozzone and Nicky Samuels were named as reserves.
Caron "Dancing with the Stars"
Pro Triathlete and Slowtwitcher Jonathan Caron has been selected to participate in the upcoming season of ABC’s "Dancing with the Stars". While the exact pairing is not set yet, rumor is that he will be partnering with Sheryl Crow.
Gomez and Snowsill win in Mooloolaba
Javier Gomez won the 2008 Mooloolaba ITU World Cup and relegated last year’s winner Brad Kahlefeldt to second place. In the women’s race Emma Snowsill edged out Vanessa Fernandes for the title.
Potts and Csomor rock California 70.3
70.3 World Champion Andy Potts held off hard charging Craig Alexander by 3 seconds to win the 2008 California 70.3 triathlon. In the women's race, Erika Csomor had a great bike split to set up her victory.
Reed and Haskins win Miami International Triathlon
Matty Reed narrowly defeated hard charging Oscar Galindez and Chris Lieto at the 2008 Miami International Triathlon. Sarah Haskins looked very fast in the women’s race and held Pip Taylor and Jasmine Oeinck at bay.
DeVilliers and Rabie fly in Tunisia
Hendrik DeVilliers (RSA) and Mari Rabie (RSA) won the 2008 Yasmine Hammamet ATU Triathlon African Championships in Tunisia after winning the South African Championships a few weeks earlier.
