Javier Gomez' S-Works Tarmac

World Champion Javier Gomez is currently on Fuerteventura to get ready for the 2015 WTS race season, and some middle distance races. Word on the street has it for one that he has Challenge Dubai on his mind. While he enjoyed a quiet dinner at Playitas we looked closer at the SRAM equipped Specialized S-Works Tarmac he has with him - it is the bike he raced in Edmonton.

The World Championship themed Specialized S-Works Tarmac sits here just as he rode it here last here in Fuerteventura. But when he raced it in Edmonton, it had no rainbow stripes.

Javier Gomez races and trains on SRAM Red components. We hoped to find prototype electronic, hydraulic or magic components, but it was mechanical gear.

The cockpit on his Tarmac is also from Specialized, and we enjoyed the very fancy watch mount on his bars.

A Specialized saddle often connects to the other contact points.

The SRAM Red brakes grab aluminum rims.

The name sticker of this humble champion is also very understated and blends in nicely on the frame.

There was still a little electrolyte drink mix left in his Specialized Purist bottle.

The World Champion rides 53/39 chain rings on 172.5mm cranks, but has no power meter.

When you see these stripes on the fork, you quickly know who you are dealing with.

The front brake showed signs of hard rides on this very windy island.

The SRAM Red rear derailleur rounds out the drive train package.

Gomez rides Roval AL35 wheels front and back with Specialized Turbo 23mm tires.
