This week we noticed the Giro Selector TT helmet, a very cool Wouter Weylandt memorial t-shirt, the GU Roctane Chocolate Raspberry, the 2012 Norseman race(s) and an interesting way to protect your bike from rain.
Giro Selector
What: The Giro Selector is the new short course TT helmet from Giro and while really not meant particularly for the triathlon market, it would seem that this will not stop folks from trying to get their hands on one of these cool units with the integrated visor. For short races the Selector might actually not be such a bad choice.
Colors: various
Sizes: small / large
MSRP: $275

108 t-shirt
What: When Trek-Leopard rider Wouter Weylandt died in the Giro D'Italia this year, the cycling world went into shock, especially when folks realized that he was about to become a father. StomachOfAnger has designed a very cool t-shirt that features his number 108 on a simple black T. Over $27,000 has already been raised through over 3,000 orders from around the world and they are taking orders until May 29, 2011, the end of the Giro. After that the shirts will get printed and shipped.
Available: After May 29
MSRP: $20 plus shipping

GU Chocolate Raspberry
What: It is virtually impossibly to go wrong with a chocolate raspberry flavor combination and we are glad that the folks at GU realized that. You can now enjoy a GU Roctane Chocolate Raspberry the next time you are out on a training ride or competing in a race.
Size: 32g
MSRP: $2.50

Norseman 2012
What: 2012 is the 10-year anniversary of the very unique Norseman race and getting into the event has become increasingly more difficult as the organizers cap it at 250 starters. For 2012 though there will be 2 versions of the race on consecutive days, so that would allow 500 folks to toe to the line in Norway next year. Look out for entries mid October this year.
MSRP: n/a
Race date: August 3rd / August 4th 2012

Protecting your bike - how not to do it
What: While checking out the transition area at the recent Rev3 Knoxville we noticed some interesting rain protection attempts. Most of them were done with ponchos from Geico and some of those were set up pretty poor. The one below though really captured our attention, as it seemed to blow around like a sail and just as we took the pics it actually took off. That meant volunteers in the area had to deal with it, and the bike wasn't protected after all.

While I'm not Herbert, I would suspect it's tagged for short course due to the complete lack of vents. Would likely get a bit toasty in the brain for a long course and/or hot bike leg.

Herbert, what about this helmet leads you to categorize it "short course?"
