It isn't quite like musical chairs, but pro triathletes do change their rides here and there. Some of these changes may catch you by surprise and we have decided to update you in terms of what the pros are riding. So here are some of the changes we are aware of at this time.

Changes in 2008 seem to be more frequent in the middle of the year in comparison to other years. We saw several prominent athletes switch their rides in last few weeks alone and our document seems to evolve constantly.

Bikes and fits 3 out of 5 stars

It's nice to know what the pros are riding, as well as how fast they jump ship. Why does someone not do a poll on what bike fit system they are riding? Engines are more valuable than cars!

Oh yeah, Leanda also won Treasure Island this year on her Pinarello Prince road bike...

Cheers!

WHAT ARE THEY RIDING NOW? 5 out of 5 stars

Doesn't this mean that all of these bikes are pretty much the same? It would seem to me that if these pro triathletes are so in love with their bikes (like they all claim to be in numerous articles) then they wouldn't change so easily. My guess is that the sponsorship money is a bit better to change (just like it is to change jobs every few years to keep getting more money from your new employer) and the bike is only as good as the athlete riding it...of course, this includes the bike fit & components. I come from a golf background and if the clubs are fit for you properly, it doesn't matter who mfg's it.

Pro's bikes 3 out of 5 stars

Cam Brown is actually riding the new Pinarello FT3 which is not out yet. He trained on the FT1 while waiting for his new bike which he's had for a while including his win in NZ. Leanda Cave is riding the Pinarello Montello at the moment and will be using this bike at Ironman Germany. She has a new bike (you can see pictures on our blog at www.abovecategory.net ) which is the FM1, the super high end TT bike. Pinarello does not (but will soon) make a FT3 in size 55 which is what Leanda rides. Chris Hauth also rides a Pinarello Montello and German Pro (and Leanda's coach) Torsten Abel is racing a heavily modified Pinarello FT1.
