JulieAnne White's recent results
JUNE, 2002 UPDATE: The Mt. Washington hillclimb was placed on JulieAnne's calendar because it goes up, and that's what she does best. Her goal was to challenge Joan Benoit's masters record of 1:16:03 and the $2000 bonus that came with it. Severe weather caused organizers to shorten the race to halfway (3.8 miles and roughly 2200' of climbing instead of 7.6 miles and 4300' of vertical). So chasing the course record was out. But JulieAnne did finish third overall (first master) in what the organizer called the best elite field in the event's 42-year history. JulieAnne also looked forward to racing Benoit, but the New England legend was a late scratch. This race makes JulieAnne two for two as a master. Said the organizer: "We have never had a stronger field for this race than we had this year. Even without Joanie, the women's field was deep and impressive." As for the record, the organizer wrote after the race: "Lots of people are intrigued to see whether or not JulieAnne might indeed break Joan Samuelson's record. From the way she ran, it's pretty clear she had a good shot." For the full race coverage go to Runner's World. As has been the case all year long, btw, JulieAnne raced up the mountain in Louis Garneau apparel, eating GU gels and drinking GPUSH fluid replacement. She keeps her body recovered from 100+ miles per week via Primal Nutrition supplements (just for hard-core endurance athletes), and her GI tract (half of which is no longer there) sound and strong with Sea Cure.
APRIL, 2002 UPDATE: JulieAnne's first masters race (she turned 40 April 10th) was the Big Sur Marathon. She toured the notoriously vertical (and scenic) race in 2:51:08, to finish as the first overall woman.
JANUARY, 2002 UPDATE: Her last open (pre-masters) race was in January of 2002, where she finished 2nd place in the San Diego Marathon.
