Secret Places

It would be to use your multisport skills to see the world around you and, especially, those secret places people don't often go, but should.

I can't snap my fingers and make this happen. But, because you are greedy, like I am, and because you can be bought, like I can, I'll appeal to your better angels by bribing your baser ones.

What follows is a contest, and it will continue until it doesn't continue, and I hope that's a long way off. Below I'll explain how this contest works.

Go exploring, and discover where these secret places are. When you think you recognize one of these places with precision, place a post on our triathlon forum and make a guess as to where this place is. If you are the first one to get it right you can choose from our PRIZE TABLE. By with precision I mean you must correctly identify the name of the trail or road, and where along the trail or road this is.

I'll start a thread title every month, like SECRET PLACE SEPTEMBER 04. Place your guesses there. If you don't see a thread corresponding to the current month, start one using the format above.

As of this writing, these secret places are limited to Southern California, roughly from the San Francisco-to-Tahoe line south to the Mexican border. A general area is indicated that corresponds to each image.

After taking a look at these images, "It's going to be bloody hard to identify these places!" you might complain. In many cases, you'd be right. It's not supposed to be easy. However, care has been taken to make sure there are certain identifying features.

The idea is to make you go out and look for these places. If you never identify any of them, I'm pretty sure you'll be glad you made the effort. Finding one of these trails will yield an experience better than anything on the prize table below.
