Thanks to perfect, windless weather, smooth newly paved sections and an insufficient 12 meter no-draft zone, many male pros legally smashed the bike record that led the way a decade ago.

Lange rode a 9th-best 4:16:05 bike split on his way to his second straight win in a record-setting 7:52:39.

Aernouts rode a 4th-fastest 4:12:25 bike split on his way to second place, the second man to break 8 hours at Kona.
