Cape Town is one of two new hosts on the exciting 8 city tour, with Chicago, Illinois in the USA being the other. This new race in South Africa is the second stop of the 2014 series and is slated to be held at the V&A Waterfront in Capetown on April 26-27, 2014.

Javier Gomez, Richard Murray, Henri Schoeman and several other ITU Pros were apparently happy about this announcement and shared their thoughts on Twitter and other social media channels.

"Happy to hear that Cape Town, one of my favourite cities in the world, will be part of the World Series next year. Yesss!! @WTS_CapeTown," tweeted Gomez.

#WTScapetown is a GO ! amazing for our country/future and sport. worldtriathlon Thank you .… " said Richard Murray on Twitter.

Jodie Swallow and James Cunnama were also at the launch of this new event and Swallow might have caught the short course bug there again.

"Hearing bout the plans for @WTS_CapeTown .so jealous of these sprinters. Congrats @worldtriathlon may the force Of the mountain be with u :)" tweeted Swallow.

The race though isn't just for ITU Pros. Age groupers will also be able to compete in Cape Town with Olympic and Sprint races on the schedule, plus plenty other family entertainment on tap.

"We have been working to secure a WTS event in Africa for a long time," said ITU President and IOC Member Marisol Casado. "We are very excited to bring our fast paced, action-packed style of racing there. The location is an ideal spot for premium racing, and will also serve as an important development tool for all of Africa."
