Luke McKenzie's Scott Plasma 5

Luke McKenzie got his hands on the new Scott Plasma 5 a few weeks before the 2014 Datev Challenge Roth and here is a look at the race bike of this 178 cm (5'10") tall and 70 kg (154.5 lbs) athlete. McKenzie, who finished second at the GoPro Ironman World Championships in Kona last October, ended up 10th in Roth.

McKenzie allowed us to move his 54cm race bike to the side as he got ready to check it in the day before the race.

The name of the pilot is on the seat cluster of this new bike.

Profile Design also designed the aero bars here. According to Profile Design they will be offered separately too.

The pads are relatively tight together.

The neon yellow Fizik bar tape matches the bike nicely, and McKenzie relies on a Garmin 500 for information.

We are not sure what McKenzie stores in this top tube storage box.

The Elite cage and bottle on the down tube has a very narrow profile.

Luke McKenzie is a SRAM athlete and he rides 55-42 chainrings on a 172.5mm SRAM crank combined with a Quarq power meter. Pedals are by Speedplay.

McKenzie has been riding a regular Fizik Arione road saddle for a while now, but this one just like the tape matches the color scheme.

An XLab Gorilla cage below the saddle is custom mounted, and the bluetac between saddle and cage prevents rattling.

McKenzie rode a Zipp disc in the rear and a Zipp 808 up front.
