Course Info: Swim 1.2 Miles Swim is an out and back in Fort Pond. This is a fresh water swim with temperatures in the mid to upper 60?s. Wetsuits are recommended, but not mandatory.

NOTE:The Half Iron swim course starts to the right of the swim exit that merges into the same finish as the Olympic swim. The two courses are separate and there will be no confusion for the athletes..

Bike 56 Miles The scenic bike course is two 28 mile laps with rolling hills and beautiful ocean and bay views. It has 2200 feet of total elevation gain.

NOTE:The Olympic distance race is running simultaneous to the Half Iron Distance race and the Olympic bike course is one lap of the Half Iron Distance course with the exception of skipping two out and backs on the return of the loop. These out and backs will be marked and staffed.

RUN 13.1 Miles The run is two laps on a challenging hilly 6.55 mile course with 806 feet of total elevation gain. The two lap course is quite challenging; after a rolling 3 miles, you hit ?Murder Hill? followed by two other challenging climbs and the ?Pits?, a great accomplishment for your race season!

More: Athletes enjoy this course for its beauty and small-town atmosphere. Montauk is a quaint fishing and surfing town on the easternmost tip of Long Island. The town is known for its natural beauty and sports enthusiastic visitors.

Montauk is one of the birthplaces of triathlon. The sport is growing and athletes want to challenge themselves with longer events. There are few metro area triathlons of this distance. In addition to providing a venue for the athletes, this event will showcase Montauk at a time when the weather is still nice but the summer crowds are not as heavy. This is a great family weekend to spend on the east end with the Olympic, Half Iron distance and Sprint Triathlons on Sunday.

Map location is based off of a geocode of the addressed entered using Google's Google Maps API. If your address does not geocode properly, you can either update the address (we will attempt to re-geocode after any updates to your entry) or you can use Google's geocoding tool found here: http://gmaps-samples.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/geocoder/singlegeocode.html to obtain a lat/long for your location and enter that. To use the utility, type in an address that is close to your location and then drag-and-drop the marker to obtain the desired lat/long. If you choose to enter a lat/long, you must check the box on the edit page that says, "override geocode with entered lat/long."
