Club Info: We have created the Desert Sharks Triathlon Club to bring together the growing community of athletes and tri enthusiasts in Utah. Our goal is to provide support, information, and resources to the athletes and to help promote the sport and events in our area. We have weekly group runs year-round, we have weekly bike rides from April to snow, and open water swims when the water warms up. We are fun group spread out along the Wasatch Front. Club Sponsors: We have an awesome group of sponsors that offer great discounts locally and online. Our sponsors offer discounts on Clif nutritional products, sports gear, massage, county fitness center memberships and more. Visit our sponsor page at: http://www.desert-sharks.com/sponsors.htmlhttp://www.desert-sharks.com/sponsors.html Club Discounts: As a member, you will receive discounts from our great sponsors, plus discounts to many local races, including the Shark Attack, our club race. Members get into most clinics free, and receive a discount to all clinics open to the public. It is easy to save much more than the membership fee in club discounts. Directions to Workouts & Meeting Location(s): Workout and clinic locations vary. You can find dates, times and locations by visiting our website, club calendar or club forum. Club Workout Schedule: Group runs are held Tuesdays, Thursdays, and some Saturdays. Locations and times vary.
Group bike sessions are held Wednesday nights From April 1 though Sept. 30. Starting times vary from 6 - 7Pm, depending on daylight. They start at the Dept. of Environmental Quality at North Temple and 1950 West.
Open water swims are dependent on the weather. Keep an eye on the forum to find out times and locations. Club Meetings & Events Schedule: We offer monthly clinics, a summer BBQ and a Winter Banquet. In addition, we have occassional Tri-a-burger events - Bring your workout gear and something to BBQ - we tri first and throw some meat on the barbie afterwards, while we kick back and relax.
Map location is based off of a geocode of the addressed entered using Google's Google Maps API. If your address does not geocode properly, you can either update the address (we will attempt to re-geocode after any updates to your entry) or you can use Google's geocoding tool found here: http://gmaps-samples.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/geocoder/singlegeocode.html to obtain a lat/long for your location and enter that. To use the utility, type in an address that is close to your location and then drag-and-drop the marker to obtain the desired lat/long. If you choose to enter a lat/long, you must check the box on the edit page that says, "override geocode with entered lat/long."
