2013 Interbike - Day 1

The 2013 Interbike trade show started today outside of Boulder City, NV in Bootleg Canyon where temps reached 100. But that did not stop folks from checking out bikes and other gear.

The Outdoor Demo area is set up for a variety of bikes but in all reality it is really best suited for mountain bikes. It is also allows for bike industry folks to mingle in a very casual and hot atmosphere.

The action was indeed at Bootleg Canyon but only for trade visitors. A few accidental tourists also stumbled upon the big tent city.

Th Argon 18 tri bikes looked very shiny and red early in the day.

We suspect that she forgot to bring her helmet and then bought a bargain Rudy TT one that she needed either way. And we saw her indeed on a mountain bike with this Wingspan.

Pivot brought a few of their Vault cross bikes to Outdoor Demo.

This fleet of Masi bikes had a very distinctive paint scheme and could be seen from a good distance.

Niner CEO Chris Sugai does not mind getting dirty and he was busy at Outdoor Demo.

The show was quite busy early on despite the very hot conditions.

The Smith Optics ForeFront helmet is very airy and has a unique honeycomb construction.

The Cutter is a new offering from Spy Optics.

A Felt employee gets an AR4 ready for a test ride.

Here is another Felt AR4 aero bike that has already seen lots of action today.

The Active Cooling Collar was very popular today and this guy was busy selling them.

Interbike boss Pat Hus also sported one of these Active Cooling Collars from Real Gear.

This Bult helmet is CSPC certified and features a built in HD 1280x720 pixel @ 30FPS camera. Control buttons for the camera are on the side of the helmet - seen above.

As the temperature got hotter some folks sought refuge in the nice air conditioned Shimano tent.

Others opted to sample ice cream courtesy of Crank Brothers.

Possibly inspired by the Slowtwitch editor-in-chief, the press at Interbike was offered these Fedora hats for sun protection.

The happy hour inside the GT booth started well before 4pm.
