Galindez, Ohata eke out narrow wins at Brazil Ironman 70.3

With a move from the inland modern capital Brasilia, dominated by the futuristic, iconic, monumental buildings of Oscar Niemeyer, to the cheery seaside resort of Penha, Ironman Brazil 70.3 featured intense battles for the wins taken by proven stars.
After swimming and biking virtually side by side, 37-year-old star Oscar Galindez of Argentina outlasted 23-year-old Brazilian pro Igor Amorelli on the run for a 43-second margin of victory in 3:54:24. While Galindez’s 1:19:00 run was only second-best to third place Juraci Junior, it was enough to outduel young Morelli’s hopes to topple the multiple Ironman winner and two-time Olympian Galindez.

The women’s contest between 29-year-old ITU star Mariana Ohata of Brazil and 26-year-old Brazilian pro Vanessa Giannini was dramatically closer. Ohata emerged from the Atlantic 1 minute 42 seconds in front of Giannini, and then her 2:32:22 bike made the margin 2 minutes 2 seconds going into the run. Giannini then cut into Ohata’s lead every step of the 13.1-mile run, but in the end her race-best 1:26:11 run was six seconds short of taking the win from the veteran Ohata.

Igor was winning the battle against Galindez by 3 minutes but the marshals (they all admitted after the race) went on a wrong way making Igor losing precious time against a Galindez gaining little time on him. Info by some coaches that were there said that Igor was going to win the race "easily". Second time Brazil has path errors (the swim some years later) and what a shame for the organizer to have a marshal that do not even know the circuit! Nice race from the guys on 25-29 that have improved a lot from season to season!
We have just to laugh

I was there... It was a beautiful day in Penha SC and the same for the proof. But nobody talked about what really heapen in there.
In the final, a member of the ORGANIZATION, the one who have to take the FIRST place to the arrival, just showed the wrong path to Igor Amorelli. So he went to the wrong path and Gallindes who was about one minute and half after Igor get the real path and could win the proof. But he knows that he was not the winner... And nobody talked about that! Neither the people who organized that...
I hope they would never do this again, they can´t just spoil all the training and the things an athlete do to win a proof.
It's unfortunate.
