Nicolas Lebrun of France and Melanie McQuaid of Canada won XTERRA USA Championship titles held in the scenic Wasatch Mountains in Ogden Utah.

Lebrun ran down defending champ Conrad Stoltz in the last two miles of the run, hitting the line in 2:21:57, 52 seconds ahead of Stoltz. Lebrun won $2,500 for the race and $6,000 for placing second in the XTERRA US Pro series points championship.

Stoltz earned $2,000 for his second place finish and $10,000 for winning the US series title for the a 7th time.

McQuaid led start to finish and essentially won it on the swim. McQuaid’s 22:33 mark for the swim in the Pineview Reservoir gave her a 2:45 margin over Shonny Vanlandingham. McQuaid put another 72 seconds on Vanlandingham with a 1:42:49 bike over the rugged 18.6-mile off-road course, then held on for dear life as Vanlandingham’s 41:17 run chopped all but 47 seconds off McQuaid’s lead.

McQuaid won $2,500 for the win and $10,000 for the US Pro Series title.
