Winter Tri Worlds preview

This coming weekend 500 athletes from 25 Nations will compete in the 2008 Winter Triathlon World Championships in Freudenstadt, Germany. Can anyone beat Germany's Sigrid Mutscheller who has won the title 4 years in a row? Mutscheller also has snagged the European Championships in as many years. There are several Contenders ready and willing to take the crown from Mutscheller and among them are Carina Wasle (AUT), Pia Sundstedt (FIN), Camilla Hott Johannsen (NOR) and Yulia Surikova (RUS).

In the men's race the favorite appears to be Arne Post from Norway, but he'll have to contend with Sigi Baur (AUT) and Andreas Swanebo (SWE). Additionally Alessandro De Gasperi (ITA) won the European tile on this course 3 years ago and Florian Holzinger (GER) has come on strong recently and should get great support from the partisan fans.
