The DB of Alex Candelario

The name Diamondback reminds us mostly of BMX and mountain bikes, but they also make some very nice road bikes. At the Boston Scientific Winston-Salem Cycling Classic we looked closer at the Diamondback Podium Optum race bike of Alex Candelario of the Optum Pro Cycling team that is presented by Kelly Benefit Strategies. Candelario who resides in Bend, Oregon is 6 feet tall and weighs 170 pounds.

This is the first season of the Optum team on Diamondback race bikes.

The tube shaping of the front triangle is very distinctive.

Candelario rides a 56cm frame.

A custom modified race number sits just above the SRAM Red rear brake.

Rider names on the bikes make it easier for mechanic and fans alike, but Candelario is very distinctive himself.
