Rudy Von Berg and His Factor Hanzo are Ready for Nice 2025

American Rudy Von Berg grew up near Nice, so it’s hardly a surprise that he’s excelled on the course here in Nice over the years. He won IRONMAN 70.3 Nice in 2018, the full-distance IRONMAN Nice in 2022, and finished fourth at the inaugural IRONMAN World Championship Nice in 2023. After a brilliant third-place finish at the IRONMAN World Championship last year, Von Berg arrives at his “home-town” race as one of the men legitimately vying for the world title.

He’s had a solid build up to the big day on Sunday, starting the year off well with a runner-up finish at IRONMAN 70.3 Oceanside, going 7:33:26 to finish third at IRONMAN Texas, and then taking sixth at the IRONMAN European Championship in Frankfurt.

We caught up with Von Berg at his home near Nice to get some photos of his Factor Hanzo:

SRAM Red components are combined with CeramicSpeed pulleys and chain. Von Burg is running a 54-tooth 1x front chainring – “I usually would have a bigger 1x, but for all the climbing and the 10-33 cassette works quite well.”

“The new Ekoi pedals are super-light – it’s a new system that feels better in terms of power transfer.”

Von Burg has chosen to combine the Cadex Ultra 50 mm aero front wheel with the the Cadex Max Aero disc on the rear. The spoked front wheel is “a lot lighter than the 4-spoke I usually use.”

Von Burg has chosen 28 mm Continental GP 5000 TT tires

The new SpeedBar Pro saves 260 g from the standard model, which brings the total system weight with computer and BTA bottle mounts to 400 to 500 g.

“There’s an aero-grade alloy mix for the hand grips and a precise carbon layup in the extensions that are ultra-thin, yet very strong,” says Nick, from Wove Saddles. The new bar is so light it “needs to be held to be believed.”

Speaking of … The Wove Saddle features an integrated bottle mount.

Be honest: do you know how to change a flat on your bike?

If given the choice, you prefer to ride a wheel that is:

Do you believe that hookless wheels are unsafe, or simply not for you?
