The Swim Gear of the 2025 Top 15 Pro Women Splits in Kona

It’s been a couple of days, and we still are trying to wrap our heads around the late race drama from the women’s 2025 IRONMAN World Championship in Kona.

It’s now time for our top 15 split gear articles. Much like with IRONMAN’s own record books, you have to finish the race in order to be included in these articles. To put the drop-out rate we saw on Saturday in perspective, six of the fastest swim-only times were excluded from this article, as they all wound up out of the race at one point or another. Those on the cutting room floor are Lucy Charles-Barclay, Taylor Knibb, Marta Sanchez, Lotte Wilms, Chelsea Sodaro, and Rachel Olson.

sailfish proved to be the most popular brand, with four leading swimmers in their Rebel line of swimskins. Other brands with multiple athletes included Blueseventy, ROKA, and deboer.

Now for the swimskins of our fastest swimmers.

1.) Haley Chura – 50:56

Swimskin: Quintana Roo HYDROspeed sleeveless

The original triathlon swim brand, QR brought back wetsuits and swimskins after a long lay-off recently. The HYDROspeed swim skins have a lifetime hydrophobic material, as few seams as possible, and a softer neckline. At $220, it’s also one of the least expensive swimskins you can track down today.

2.) Holly Lawrence – 50:57

Swimskin: ROKA Viper X.3 Sleeveless

The all-white limited edition Viper X.3 that we saw at Nice came available at retail for the first time in Kona, with sales at the expo. Like the one linked above, the Viper X.3 has an ultralight, hydrophobic material to it. There’s also ROKA’s patented bracing in it, making it one of the few swimskins that offers minor body positioning help in non-wetsuit swims. That does come with a higher price tag, at $425.

3.) Rebecca Clarke – 51:01

Swimskin: sailfish Rebel Pro 3

The Rebel Pro 3 is the more flexible of the brand’s top-swim skins. According to sailfish, this is basically the suit that founder Jan Sibbersen wore for the old IRONMAN Hawaii swim course record, just updated with modern materials and construction. It otherwise checks all the boxes you would expect: limited seams, hydrophobic materials, and compression where you need it. Price: $325.

4.) Stephanie Clutterbuck – 51:32

Swimskin: deboer tsunami 4.0

The latest swimskin from deboer, the key feature of the Tsunami 4.0 is a proprietary fiber called Tridium, which has a hexagonal 3D texture to it. The company claims on its website that the material “leverages the boundary layer phenomenon to delay laminar flow separation, significantly decreasing drag – the most effective way to increase your speed in the water.” The Tsunami 4.0 costs $399.99 USD.

5.) Julie Iemmolo – 51:36

Swimskin: sailfish Rebel Pro Plus 1

Looking for maximum compression? You’ve come to the right place. The Rebel Pro Plus 1 combines increased compression over its other models along with its most hydrophobic materials. The result is what sailfish calls their fastest swimskin ever. Naturally, the price point comes along with it: the Pro Plus 1 is $70 more expensive than the Rebel Pro 3.

6.) India Lee – 51:39

Swimskin: Huub Pinnacle

Huub partnered with Andy Potts on the development of the Pinnacle. The result of that partnership is a swimskin that Huub claims that the suit improves body positioning in the water and can reduce times by upwards of 4.5 seconds per 100 meters. It gets there through a combination of compression and material choices. It is $282 USD.

7.) Hannah Berry – 52:02

Swimskin: Arena Carbon Speedsuit

Not currently available for purchase, the Carbon Speedsuit uses Arena’s proprietary carbon cage fabric for compression and improved body positioning in the water. When available at retail, it cost around $300 USD.

8.) Regan Hollioake – 52:05

Swimskin: sailfish Rebel Pro 3

We had to go eight swimmers to find a repeat swimskin! Hollioake also opted for the increased flexibility in the shoulders of the Rebel Pro 3 as opposed to the Pro Plus 1.

9.) Jocelyn McCauley – 55:37

Swimskin: Blueseventy PZ3TX

McCauley wore the older top-end swimskin from Blueseventy; it’s since been replaced by the PZ4TX (which you’ll find further down this list). There’s a blend of Italian hydrophobic materials on offer here, along with the unique side-paneling that the company claims helps with body positioning. The older model can be found around for $250 in limited sizing; the current one runs $330.

10.) Solveig Løvseth – 55:40

Swimskin: sailfish Rebel Pro Plus 1

Your 2025 IRONMAN World Champion, Løvseth also opted for the more compressive, position-correcting suit in the sailfish line. It’s also the suit that men’s champion Casper Stornes wore in Nice.

11.) Maja Stage Nielsen – 55:40

Swimskin: Castelli Elite Swimskin

Castelli’s swimskin features bonded seaming, a hydrophobic finish to the fabric, and one of the larger reverse-zippers (40cm) to make transition a breeze. Flexibility is the primary goal for this suit. Normally retailing for $330, it’s currently on sale for $165 USD.

12.) Lisa Perterer – 55:41

Swimskin: Blueseventy PZ4TX

Told you we’d see the new suit! Perterer wore the updated PZ4TX in Kona. Like its predecessor, there’s unique side paneling to improve body positioning, as well as the unique blend of four hydrophobic fabrics to reduce drag.

13.) Kat Matthews – 55:43

Swimskin: Blueseventy PZ4TX

Matthews, too, was also in the PZ4TX.

14.) Marlene De Boer – 55:44

Swimskin: deboer tsunami 4.0

De Boer wore…the deboer swimskin! Branding was on point.

15.) Marjolainne Pierré – 55:45

Swimskin: ROKA Viper X.3 Sleeveless

Pierré had the traditional black color way in the Viper X.3.
