Ironman World Championship runner-up Pete Jacobs and recent ITU long distance World Champion Caroline Steffen won the men’s and women’s overall titles at Ironman 70.3 Philippines Sunday.

On a typically hot and humid day in Cebu City, Formula One superstar Jenson Button of Great Britain proved he was more than a one sport wonder as he finished 11th overall male with a time of 4:35:49 – just 28 minutes off Jacobs’ winning time.

Jacobs combined a race-best 21:26 swim, a second-fastest 2:15:34 bike and a second- fastest 1:27:55 run to finish in 4:07:38 with a 1 minute, 23 seconds margin of victory over runner-up and 10-time Ironman New Zealand champion Cameron Brown and 10 minutes, 9 seconds over amateur 30-34 champion and third overall finisher Assad Attamimi of Australia. Attamimi further distinguished himself by posting a 1:24:52 half marathon, faster than two of the fastest professional runners in the Ironman firmament.

Jacobs' Philippines 70.3 win was his third straight in by far his slowest time.

Steffen, on the heels of her recent ITU long distance world championship at Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain, posted the second-fastest swim (24:03), fastest bike (2:20:43) and second-fastest run (1:32:49) to finish in 4:20:48 with a 6:36 margin of victory over runner-up Bree Wee of Hawaii and 11:21 over third place Belinda Granger of Australia.

Amanda Stevens combined the fastest swim (22:21), fourth fastest bike split (2:27:05) and 7th fastest run (1:43:51) to finish 4th in a time of 4:39:19. Michelle Wu of Australia has the fastest run (1:29:14) on her way to a 4:37:07 time and 5th place finish.
