Germans Mika Noodt and Anne Reischmann won Ironman 70.3 Les Sables Sunday.
Noodt laid down the law in the form of a race-best 1:12:43 half marathon that brought him to the line in 3:47:14 with a 2:28 margin over Rudy Von Berg of the U.S.
Anne Reischmann of Germany similarly topped the women with a race-best 1:23:01 run split that brough her to the finish in 4:21:23 with a 1:46 margin over Julie Lemmolo (1:24:42 split) and 1:55 over third place Charlene Clavel of France.
Women
Quite unlike the men’s race, Anne Reischmann of Germany started her day with a 30:45 swim split that gave her a 3:35 deficit to Julie Lemmolo of France and a 1:01 deficit to Charlene Clavel of France. After a women’s-best 2:24:03 bike split, Reischmann advanced to second, two minutes behind Clavel and a few seconds behind Lemmolo.
After a women’s-fastest 1:213:01 run split, Reischmann finished in 4:21:23 with a 1:46 margin over Lemmolo (1:24:42 run) and 1:55 over third place Clavel (1:24:40 run split).
Men
Von Berg led the swim in 25:03, which gave him a one second advantage over Noodt, 9 seconds over Yvan Jarrige of France, 11 seconds over Sybrene Baelde of Belgium, and 14 seconds over Bertrand Billard of France.
After a race-best 2:05:22 bike split, Von Berg led Noodt by 53 seconds, Arnaud Guilloux by 2:24, and Bertrand Billard by 2:58.
After a race-best 1:12:43 run, Noodt finished in 3:47:14 with a 2:28 lead on Von Berg (1:16:07 run) and 4:17 over third place finisher Yvan Jarrige of France.
