Ohio has a new 70.3

The IRONMAN® 70.3® Ohio triathlon will take place on August 21, 2016 in Delaware, Ohio, 30 miles north of the bustling capital city of Columbus.

The race will start with a single-loop, 1.2-mile swim in Delaware Lake. The 56-mile bike course is flat, with "a few technical sections along the way," winding through Delaware, Marion, and Morrow counties, before transition inside Ohio Wesleyan University’s Selby Stadium.

The run course is 2 loops, finishing in front of Selby Stadium.

The race will take place about 3 weeks before Rev3's Cedar Point race, contested about 2 hours north of where Ironman Ohio will take place.

This new 70.3 will probably place entry pressure on the Great Buckeye Challenge, an HFP-produced race which includes a series of distances including a half, typically run at the end of August.

General registration for IRONMAN 70.3 Ohio will open October 27, 2015.
