The S-Works Shiv of Sam Betten

The 6'4" tall Aussie Sam Betten let us have a closer look at his Shimano equipped baby blue, red and white Specialized S-Works Shiv - ready for Ironman 70.3 Philippines.

A tall man needs a tall bike. This Specialized S-Works Shiv is a size XL.

Betten replaced the Magura brakes with Shimano ones, and uses a Zipp Garmin mount on his extensions.

On his extensions Betten only shifts the rear derailleur with this 1-button Shimano Dura-Ace setup.

The handlebar height is at full extension and the Shimano Junction A box is hiding under the bars.

Betten rides 172.5mm Specialized S-Works cranks with a Quarq power meter; the CeramicSpeed bottom bracket is stock on these bikes.

A repair kit is ready in the Shiv FuelCell and a valve extender is taped to the lever.

There is plenty of extra space for other tools or gear.

Just in case there is another size XL baby blue, red and white S-Works Shiv on the pro rack.

A single cage is mounted behind the Specialized saddle.

Betten rides 24mm Specialized S-Works Turbo tires front and back, with STANS sealant inside the Specialized tubes for races. The front wheel is Roval and the rear is a Zipp disc.

Here is another angle of Betten's ride.
