Stay Safe. Be Seen: Light and Motion Vis360 and Vis180

In the next edition of our series on bike lights for safety & Visibility on the road, we look at the Vis360 and Vis180 from Light & Motion. L & M lists these lights under the "Commuter" section of their website with the tagline, "Be safe. Be seen." I swear I did not plagiarize them, but I'm happy to take their good advice, and their visibility-focused and USB-rechargeable lights make it easy to do so.

Transition Expert (2011)

This is the sweet spot in the Specialized Transition line-up. Were I a dealer selling Specialized, I've had ordered pallet after pallet of this model. If a Transition is in your future, get it soon, while the getting's good.

Stay Safe. Be Seen: Lupine Piko 3

Our look at bike lights for safety & visibility continues. In the second article of this new series, we test the 550 lumen, German-made Lupine Piko 3 on a helmet and on a custom-made, but simple, aerobar mount.

The Scott Plasma 3 build

The current bike build project is the highly anticipated Scott Plasma 3 and the initial setup of this bike is done. Enjoy this Scott Plasma 3 gallery.

Blue Triad EX (2011)

This was essentially Andreas Raelert's bike for the 09 Ironman. Except for the aerobar and stem, this version of the EX has the best parts spec of any tri bike made by any company for 2011. And the aerobar is okay too.

Specialized Transition Pro (2011)

This bike is further evidence that the most hotly contested price category in tri bike land is the $3300 to $3700 range. The big boys—Trek, Cervelo, Felt, Cannondale, Scott—have gone all-in here. How does the Transition Comp fair?

Scott Plasma 20 (2011)

The Plasma 2 frame was unobtainable during 2010 for a price below $5000. For 2011, this high quality frameset can be had in a bike selling complete, with a very nice gruppo, for $3300. Today we take a look at that bike.

Trek Speed Concept 7.5 (2011)

Trek has finally come out to play in the sport of triathlon. They engage in every price range with a bike that's imaginative and well conceived. The Speed Concept 7.5 is a strong entry in the mid-$3000 category.

The Bontrager RXL Hilo

This triathlon cycling shoe has the best breathability of all shoes I’ve so far tested. The large amount of mesh used in the upper of the shoe makes this like riding with the air conditioning on full volume.

Bont Sub-10

Bont's moldable, monocoque cycling shoes bring something new to the tri shoe category: a shoe so form fitting the single-strap closure method isn't the liability it once was.

Northwave Tribute

The Tribute is an update on the Tribal: a tri-specific cycling shoe with an extremely soft Lorica upper. Don't expect the same fit, feel and features: the shoe is an improvement, or not, depending on you.

Specialized TriVent

Specialized really went after the tri-specific crowd with its TriVent BG shoe. Notwithstanding a couple of minor peeves, this shoe is the cash register leader and deserves to be.
