Benny Vansteelant dies at age 30

With absolute sadness we are reporting that Belgian duathlon star Benny Vansteelant has died in a hospital in Roeselare, Belgium. The 30 year old had been in intensive care with serious injuries after a cycling accident with a car.

According to various Belgian news sources his doctors actually thought by Thursday afternoon that he would most likely make a full recovery. But his heart stopped early Friday morning and all attempts to revive him failed.
