McDonald, Harris win Ultraman Florida

Chris ‘Big Sexy’ McDonald of the U.S. broke the Ultraman Florida men’s record by a 5:38 margin with a three-day total of 21 hours 32 minutes and 54 seconds for the 6.2-mile swim and 92-mile bike leg on day one, 171-mile bike leg on day two and 52.4-mile run on day three.

McDonald, age 40, topped runner-up Steven Keller of the U.S., age 34, by 55:46 and 3rd place Christian Isakson of the U.S., age 46, by 2:36:57.

Jamie Harris, 43, of the U.S. defended her 2018 Ultraman Florida title with a 26:21:23 time over the three-day, 321.6-mile stage triathlon conducted in central Florida for the sixth time. Harris topped runner-up Heidi Marshall of the U.S., age 47, by 4:51:08 and outpaced 3rd place woman Paula Miotto of Brazil, age 42, by 5:56:33.

Harris fell 1:26:10 of the women's course record set in 2017 by Steffi Steinberg of Germany.
