Bike Watch: QR VPRi Bikes Stolen From Frankfurt Expo

We’re hoping the triathlon community can help track down four VPRi’s stolen from the Quintana Roo booth at the IRONMAN Frankfurt European Championship expo last night. Since a couple of the bikes feature custom paint jobs, the crew from Quintana Roo are hoping that the triathlon community can keep an eye out for them.

The thieves managed to slice through the fencing and then cut the locks and cables on the bikes. According to reports, no other vendors were affected. One of the bikes that was stolen was to be used by a Quintana Roo athlete at next week’s Challenge Roth.

You can read more about the QR VPRi here.

“We’ve been working with the team at IRONMAN and the local police and they have been wonderful to work with,” said Chris Pascarella, the president of American Bicycle Group, the company that owns Quintana Roo. “Since these bikes feature some unique colours, hopefully the triathlon community can help by keeping an eye out for them.”

Here’s a breakdown of the bikes that were stolen:

  • Stealth Black with Black graphics (size large)
  • Pro White with Gold graphics (size Medium)
  • Velocity Blue with Silver graphics (size Medium)
  • Venom Green with Black graphics (size Small).  (“This one is not a selectable option on our site but we have done several by request and is a color under our “service course” road bike line,” Pascarella said.)

If you do have any information to share you can contact Quintana Roo at communication@americanbicyclegroup.com.

Do you think the new hydration and fairing rules are good for triathlon?
