In the first two weeks we’ve covered a lot of ground. You’ve gotten yourself going, and you’re sort-of kind-of sputtering along in two of triathlon’s three events: the swim and the run.

Marino Vanhoenacker won the Marc Herrremans Classic Ironman 70.3 Antwerp for the third time in the row and continues his dominant 2009 performance. Sofie Goos took the women’s title and thus helped the Belgian sweep at home.

Trent Grimsey – open water fish

21-year old Aussie Trent Grimsey won the Waikiki Roughwater Swim and the RCP Tiburon Mile in 2008, and at the recent FINA Swimming World Championships in Rome he earned a silver medal in the 25k open water race.

Potts, Warriner win Steelhead 70.3

Andy Potts ran down Andrew Starykowicz late in the race to win the 2009 Ironman 70.3 Steelhead race. In the women’s race, Sam Warriner took charge on the bike and cruised to a win with a dominating performance.

Shoemaker surprises in Hamburg

A great run helped American Jarrod Shoemaker to win the 2009 Dextro Energy ITU Triathlon event in Hamburg, Germany. Aussie Brad Kahlefeldt made a valiant effort to reel in Shoemaker but had to settle for the runner-up spot.

Aussie Emma Moffatt stormed to her third successive win in the Dextro Energy ITU Triathlon World Championship Series with a powerful performance on the wet roads of Hamburg, Germany.
