Kiwi Bevan Docherty won the opening round of the Dextro Energy Triathlon - ITU World Championship series in Tongyeong, Korea by the narrowest of margins over Aussie Brad Kahlefeldt. A photo finish review had to be used.

Timothy O'Donnell beat a stellar field of athletes at the 2009 Ironman 70.3 St. Croix International Triathlon. In the women's race, Catriona Morrison chased down long time leader Mirinda Carfrae late in the race to capture that event.
