Shimano 105 Goes Electronic

Shimano announced electronic 105 today. This groupset, with the 105 R71
Designation, joins Dura Ace and Ultegra as both 12-speed and electronic wireless. The groupset also gets the hood ergonomics upgrade enjoyed by the other two electronic road groupsets in Shimano’s line.

105 R71 has two chain ring options: 50×34 and 52×36. The cassette is 11-34 with 11-36 coming at a later date, which means for the first time Shimano will offer a road group with a low gear that’s lower than a 1-to-1 front-to-rear ratio.

The brakes also get an upgrade, to the better-forming hydraulic system enjoyed by the other two already-upgraded groupsets.
