Christopher Borden's Dimond

I noticed this bike during the bike check-in for the 2014 Little Debbie Ironman Chattanooga and decided to snap a few images for a gallery. It was the only age group bike I spent more time with, and initially I thought it might be Eric Hinman's Dimond. But that made little sense and as it turned out it was the race bike of the fastest age grouper in that race - Christopher Borden from Haleyville, AL. I also suspect, but can't be sure, this fast man is likely a slowtwitcher.

A bike like this Dimond is always an attention getter and it was very lucky to have no other bikes racked up nearby.

The Dimond is a bike dreamed up by TJ Tollakson after having ridden a few other beam bikes, and came to reality with smart engineer David Morse.

Borden's cockpit is a 3T Ventus II LTD that matched the UCI illegal frame nicely.

SRAM Red shifters and a zip tied Garmin mount keep things simple.

The XLab Gorilla cage on the bars is also ziptied.

Here is another perspective of this Dimond race bike.

Simple and smart component choices can be found all over the place here.

Borden runs a TriRig Omega brake which is stock on the Dimond bike.

The TriRig Omega brake can also be found on the back of the Dimond below the chainstays.

Not much to see here, except for that discarded water bottle.

The Quarq power meter with the black 52/38 rings looks very sharp.

Borden rides a Fi:zi'k Tritone saddle.

SRAM Red derailleurs for this fast man.
