2013 Challenge Roth - day 2

With the 2013 DATEV Challenge Roth now only 2 days away athletes and their families packed the expo and got ready for the Friday evening carbo loading party. There were also quite a few autograph sessions today and while there were some nervous faces in the crowd, most of the athletes looked happy and relaxed.

The carbo loading dinner was very delicious and greatly appreciated.

The Freibad in Roth is very popular for practice swimming with the 50m length lanes.

Downtown these Spanish athletes were filling up their water containers at a fountain.

Action in the Compex booth and some curious other expo visitors look on.

This sign likely needs no translation.

The Xentis Squad 7.5 is a new wheel for this Austrian brand and now their deepest offering. Only available as a clincher wheel for now but a tubular edition is in the works.

The waved line below the brake track is called active turbolator and is supposed to help aerodynamics. Width of the rim is 24.6.

Quite possibly the coolest vehicle we saw all day, and we did see some nice Porsches.

These age groupers are enjoying a cold one in preparation for the big day.

Writing inspirational signs for the athletes was a very popular activity today.

The Ecco Biom Racer is a new running shoe from this Scandinavian brand.

The Racer model is available in a few different colors and also with this Yak leather upper.

These kids from a local Kindergarten sang a song to welcome the triathletes from around the world. The chorus was along the lines of hello, hello - we are so happy that you are here.

Race numbers in triathlons rarely go up this high.

Two very cool wrapped bikes by Riesel Design were in the expo and got a lot of attention.

The new Rudy Project Wing57 helmet of Yvonne Van Vlerken, and she is even in it.

Sonja Tajsich, Julia Gajer and Daniela Sämmler of Team Erdinger were busy signing autographs.

Dirk Bockel was enjoying Leberkäse and potato salad at the carbo party. A wise choice I must say. Cam Brown also tried it and he did not even know what it was. Kudos.

On the way home from the carbo party.
