2015 Ironman Mallorca images

The 2015 Ironman Mallorca was won by Timo Bracht and Daniela Sämmler, and here are images from this long course race on that island popular for training and vacationing.

Full throttle into the water.

Athletes as far as the eyes can see.

Many spectators lined the swim course and cheered on the athletes.

After a good swim, Timo Bracht pushed hard on the bike and recorded a race best 4:32:16 bike split.

Johann Ackermann is well known for his bike prowess, but it was not his day in Mallorca.

South African James Cunnama was far from home but near the front of the race all day.

The day ended early for Germans Johann Ackermann and Horst Reichel.

The Daniela Sämmler's race best 5:06:28 bike split set the pace for her day.

German Nina Kuhn struggled on the bike course and ended up with a 5:26:08 time.

The day also ended early for Natascha Schmitt.

Bracht started the run with approximately a 2 minute lead.

James Cunnama inched closer and closer.

Alessandro Degasperi on the way to the 3rd place.

Cunnama and Bracht battled all day and went back and forth during the run.

German Christian Haupt won the M35-39 age group and finished 9th overall in 8:52:30.

Swiss age grouper Martina Kunz finished 3rd overall with a superb 9:32:17.

German Katharina Grohmann was the 4th pro and 5th overall female in 9:37:07.

Timo Bracht ran a smart and strong race to grab his 10th long distance and 9th Ironman title.

Daniela Sämmler was thrilled with her win.
