Challenge Roth 2012 - day 2

The Challenge Roth race day is inching closer and here is another gallery of images from this impressive event. Between relays and individual athletes there will be about 5,000 triathletes at the start line on Sunday, and these folks will be assisted by about 5,600 volunteers.

Early action in the High5 booth and High5 is the race nutrition in Roth.

But meanwhile it was eerily quiet at the Solarer Berg where thousands of spectators will be on Sunday.

Age groupers Alex Wells and Steve Moruzzi traveled from Abu Dhabi to race Challenge Roth, and there are more folks from UAE among the large field here.

We stumbled upon one of the Rotor Flow aero prototype cranks in the expo area.

Timo Bracht will have a big target on his back because he is the favorite here.

The Germans might be looking mostly at Julia Gajer and Sonja Tajsich, but Rachel Joyce is a clear favorite.

This large group of french triathletes from Issy Triathlon was roaming in downtown Roth.

We also ran into Ain-Alar Juhanson with his family downtown.

Belinda Granger received a nice kiss from her host family's son Felix during the autograph session.

The Nudelparty was a massive event with good food and drinks and a very nice vibe.

Joerk Kustermann won this Scott Plasma 3 frame set for the creative Scott contest submission behind him. Now he can't retire after Roth, he plans to race Challenge Wanaka on the new frame.

There was also a big party going on in the market square downtown.
