The pool of Conrad Stoltz

A couple years ago Conrad Stoltz decided to personally build a pool in his backyard in Roodewalshoek, Lydenburg, South Africa. Not a small project for anybody, but the 3-time XTERRA World Champion had the added pleasure to do all of this without the luxury of electricity.

After a lot of digging, filling, carrying and placing 2,500 five-pound sand bags and plenty of mud and sweat, Conrad Stoltz's pool is finally done.

We are truly impressed Conrad.

The project requires a lot of sandbags.

Stamping down the sand bags with a thumper instead of a hard workout.

The angle grinder spray melted the gloves.

Dirt and sweat in hot temps.

Dirty legs and somewhat clean feet.

Did we say it was hot? 118 degrees Fahrenheit or 48 degrees Celcius.

A lot of sand bags had to be filled to get this far.

When more hands are needed, Bennet, Sipho and Paulus are there.

Crouched down to install an outlet.

The project is moving forward.

The plastic liner is getting installed.

The pool is pretty darn close to the house.

Not everybody is interested in the pool project.

The pool is finally getting filled.

Water supply from the irrigation furrow.

A Kudu Bull watches intently.

The pool is almost filled.

Ready for a swim with Sheryl Crow on the swimsuit.
