Verwer & Janssen Oud Gastel Tri

Most triathlon videos appear to be on the lame side but there are a few exceptions for sure and among them are the Norseman ones. The video of the 30th edition of the Verwer & Janssen Oud Gastel triathlon also caught our attention and so did the event itself that is partly held on an unfinished section of the A4 highway. This made for a very impressive event and the video and images below give you a closer look at this event. And no, the race is not called Dutch Highway Bliss triathlon. The video captures action from the 1eDivisie, translated as First Division, which is the league below the major Honours Division.

How would you like having this much of the road to yourself? But with about 1,000 starters in various categories, it was not always this empty.

This man is not blown sideways by the wind, which clearly could be a possibility - he is setting up for an upcoming left turn.

Not all sections of the Verwer & Janssen Oud Gastel triathlon were on that unfinished A4.

And in some sections bike handling skills were helpful. Including the dismount line which was marked by a 2x4 or similar.
