Terenzo Bozzone of New Zealand and Mary Beth Ellis of the U.S. won the 2013 Ironman 70.3 Florida titles at Lake Eva Park in Haines City, Florida.
Bozzone combined a 3rd-best 23:43 swim, 2nd-best 2:04:04 bike split and a race-best 1:14:40 run to finish in 3:45:51 with a winning margin of 1:21 over runner-up Kevin Collington of the U.S. and 2:25 over 3rd-place finisher Dirk Bockel of Luxembourg.
Ellis was 3 seconds back of swim leader Kat Baker’s 25:35 split, then passed Baker with a race-best 2 hours 20 minutes bike split to lead by 1:27 at T2.
While Baker faded to 6th with a 1:35:14 run, Ellis ran 1:28:28 to finish in 4:14:03 with a 5:07 margin over fast closing runner-up Mandy McLane of the U.S. and 6:48 over 3rd place finisher Jo Lawn of New Zealand.
