Tarpon Springs, FL, September 18: The WTC (World Triathlon Corporation) announced today that Baja, Mexico will not be home to an Ironman 70.3 event in 2008.

The second year event was one of 21 qualifying races for the 2007 70.3 World Championships in Clearwater, FL. According to the WTC, the inability to secure the necessary event permits and other venue challenges are the reasons for the cancellation of the 2008 event.
For those who had looked to race in Baja in 2008, the 70.3 Hawaii event is suggested by the WTC as an alternative race to qualify for the 70.3 World Championships.
