We Noticed: Bontrager, Guru...

This week we stumbled upon the light and bright Bontrager XXX LE shoes, the GURU Academy schedule, the Felt Outfitter bike, a cool t-shirt from DH Wear, an athletic soap from New England and a fine German body lotion.

Bontrager XXX LE shoes

The Bontrager XXX LE shoes are distinctively high visible, and the more subtle opposite side has an equal distinctive look and reflects light. The 3 strap Velcro closure system makes it simple and light, and otherwise the shoe is built up on the same inForm Pro last and Platinum Series Carbon sole as the Boa closures equipped XXX cousin. Weight of the XXX LE is listed as 195 grams per shoe in a size 42, and while we actually have not held the shoe in our hand to confirm this, the number sounds reasonable. But who cares about the numbers, these shoes looks fantastic and you can immediately score major style points if you show up with these on your next ride.
Sizes: 40-47
MSRP: $324.99

The view from above shoes that the inside of the Bontrager XXX LE is much more mellow than the outside.

GURU Academy schedule

GURU just released the 2015 training schedule at the GURU Academy in Bethel, Connecticut. This schedule includes 10 GURU certification courses and a special F.I.S.T. East course hosted by our own Dan Empfield. This training is open to all retailers and bike fitters who are interested in a fitting certification and during these classes the students can meet representatives representatives from the recently formed GURU Academy Advisory, a global collective of 8 experts who specialize in bike fitting and retail training. Among those are Mat Steinmetz and David Ripley of 51 Speedshop, Jonathan Blyer of ACME Bicycle Co. and Tim Ray of Maplewood Bicycle. Link to the schedule is in the header.

Felt Outfitter bicycle

I am neither a hunter, nor a fisherman, but this new Felt Outfitter quickly caught my eye, and somehow Jay Prasuhn's face came to my mind too. This Bosch electric motor equipped and camouflage painted Outfitter machine is meant for the hunter, fisher or outdoorsman who would prefer to get into the woods with less noise and closer to nature.
MSRP: $5,399

DH Wear Pedal t-shirt

I have one of these Damion Hickman Wear Pedal t-shirts and have been approached several times about it already. Interestingly enough, not all folks who inquired about it were cyclists. But be it as it may, this shirt looks cool and comes in two different colorways. The olive one featured below, and a grey one which I currently have. Hopefully your t-shirt collection does not simply represent the races you have entered the last few years, as that would be simply sad.
Sizes: S-XXL
MSRP: $23.95

Lightfoot's Athletic Soap

I recently saw this Lightfoot's Athletic Soap advertised somewhere and found it somewhat entertaining. Would the owner of such an athletic soap also need to own an athletic comb and an athletic hair trimmer? And could he or she not use this soap when not having partaken in an athletic activity? The soap originally came from the UK but is now at home in New England, and maybe this label should not be taken too serious. But you surely need to like the scent of pine.
MSRP: $7.50

Nivea lotion

When you grow up in Central Europe you will have likely experienced Nivea lotion at one point or another. This body lotion is certainly still fondly on my mind, and I make sure that I always bring some of that lotion (and the deodorant) back from Germany when I go there. Why does this matter here? People who spend a lot of time outside need to make sure the skin does not dry out, and Nivea does a great job, and it smells great. Not too manly and not too feminine.
