What We Have Noticed: ASSOS, NuttZo ...

In this edition of What We Have Noticed we stumbled upon middle aged men in lycra, the NuttZo nut spread, the ASSOS S7 line of shorts, the Stayhold organizer, the Faster book and beautiful videos from Celtman Extreme Triathlon and the ITU World Championships Final.

MAMILS - Road to London

What: Midlife crisis can be handled in a variety of ways and these 3 Norwegian middle aged athletes decided to get ready for the ITU World Championships in London, UK. The video is very nicely done and many readers of the slowtwitch site should easily be able to relate no matter where they reside.
MSRP: priceless

NuttZo

What: The Original NuttZo features 100% organic ingredients and contains peanuts, cashews, almonds, Brazilian nuts, sunflower seeds, flax seeds, hazelnuts, seed butter and sea salt. For those who are looking to start their day with less sugar this NuttZo offering is a nice alternative to regular peanut butter, and taste wise it is more appealing for this editor than the Justin's Nut Butter. NuttZo comes in either creamy or crunchy, plus their are chocolate varieties and no peanut editions.

ASSOS S7 line

What: ASSOS just introduced a new line of cycling bib shorts called S7 and labeled that effort The Game Changer. Word has it that these shorts took 6-years to develop and according to ASSOS they are lighter, have a lower volume, fewer seams, more breathing room, softer compression and less friction. The 4 models in this line will be 4 Neopro, Équipe, Cento and Campionissimo and range from the reasonable $199 NeoPro to the very expensive top of the line $519 Campionissimo. All shorts get new straps which are attached more on which contact the shorts closer to the hips and there are quite a few interesting design details such as the Golden Gate and the KuKu Penthouse. The new bibs are not yet on their site though.
Available: Starting December 2013
MSRP: $199 to $519
Website: assos.com

The ASSOS Golden Gate is an area where the pad is not attached to the bib's outer material and features in all the shorts.

The ASSOS KuKu Penthouse is lined with very soft material and felt ultra nice and comfortable to the touch. It is featured on the top two Cento and Campionissimo shorts.

Faster

What: Many questions that constantly pop up in the slowtwitch forums are covered in the book Faster - Demystifying the Science of Triathlon Speed. Jim Gourley touches on topics ranging from faster tire pressure to barefoot running and making open water swimming easier on 216 pages and you can have your copy right now.

STAYHOLD

What: It is super annoying to have stuff rolling around in the trunk unless there is already so much crap in it that nothing rolls or moves. For those who shuttle around fewer items STAYHOLD comes to the rescue and it prevents the gear from moving around by grabbing hold of the carpet. Thus no more helmet and water bottle bowling in the trunk. Smart and simple - we like it.
