Ultralite Sports pedal system
What: The Ultralite Sports pedals pictured below recently arrived and the initial thought was that Ultralite must have forgotten to put anything into the box because it was so unbelievably light. Pedals, cleats and hardware though were inside indeed and they look quite stunning - but did remind us a bit of the AeroLite pedals. Unlike those though, the Ultralite ones come with spring-loaded barrel for a slightly different user interaction. It basically requires the rider to move the foot slightly towards the crankarm to snap in and to release. Something best be practiced at home before venturing out.

Wahoo RFLKT
What: The Wahoo RFLKT is an iPhone powered bike computer / display and that allows you to basically keep your phone in the back pocket of your jersey and still use functions from it on your handlebars. Having the screen turned off in your back pocket will give you an estimated 5 hours of usage time of your phone. The RFLKT controls the app via buttons on the side of the unit and a Bluetooth 4.0 connection. The RFLKT works with the iPhone 4S and the iPhone 5, and is compatible with Wahoo’s own app for cycling and Cyclemeter, plus more apps are expected in the next 3 to 6 months. Very promising indeed.

Nike Air Pegasus+ 29
What: The Nike Air Pegasus+ 29 shed a bit of weight compared to recent editions and has a re-designed upper for more ventilation and comfort. It is available in couple fluorescent colors - so being visible in them should be no issue. Plus if you really don’t like the color options available for this model, you can absolutely customize this one.

Clean Bottle – The Square
What: We are not talking about David Mayer in the Clean Bottle costume jumping around some square at the start of a major cycling event, but rather a cool new square design from that brand. This bottle though is not meant for your bike, but your daily other activities you pursue or have to partake in. It does however unscrew on both ends just like the bike bottle, and because it is square it won’t roll away. Seeing David Mayer in the Clean Bottle costume rolling down a climb in the Tour De France actually has been a fear of mine all along, but let us go back to The Square, it is currently on Kickstarter and you can be one of the early supporters until October 11th.

Trix Tiki t-shirt
What: Quite a few athletes are already in Kona and before too long the Big Island will be taken over by folks associated with the myList Ironman World Championships. The Tiki shirt from Trix gets you in that Aloha spirit even if you are only watching the event from a distance. It does not scream "I am a triathlete" but those looking a little closer will indeed know what this golden yellow t-shirt is about.
