Quarq Prime and DZero

One of the most popular power meters in the industry is about to get an upgrade. Quarq has released details on a new Quarq Prime Power Ready Crankset and few details on their new DZero spider power meter and platform that Quarq believes will be the next generation in power meters.

The Quarq Prime Cranksets will be available in carbon (above) and forged aluminum (below), whereas RED uses Exogram hollow carbon arms. The new cranksets will be distinguishable by a decal indicating “Power Ready” on the arm and laser-etched Power Ready on the spider. These cranksets don’t come with the DZero spider power meter but will allow for an easy after-market install by replacing only the spider, similar to SRM and Specialized. Quarq expects this will provide more consumers the opportunity to easily add a power meter to their new bikes that often don’t come with a power meter.

The soon-to-be released DZero power meter spider will integrate with their new DZero power meter platform which Quarq describes as “everything that we know how to do in a power meter, done all at once.” They have released a cryptic video along with a forum thread DZero. Slowtwitch will have more details when it is released at Eurobike 2016, including any upgrade options for current Quarq owners.

The Quarq Prime Cranksets are already shipping on 2017 models from Canyon, Felt, Fuji, and Trek. Stay tuned for a hands-on review and more details on the Quarq Prime and the DZero.
