The Scott Scale of Nino Schurter

At the 2015 Sea Otter Classic Swiss MTB champion Nino Schurter won the short track race on Friday and the cross country event on Sunday and we looked closer at his SRAM, Ritchey and DT Swiss equipped Scott Scale race bike. The fast man opted to race that hardtail on both occasions.

The 173cm tall Nino Schurter races on a size M Scott Scale. And this hardtail frame is one of the lightest around.

The Swiss flag graphics really pop out on this black and yellow frame.

All the Scott-Odlo team members have their names on the seat tube of the frame.

The cockpit and the grips of this race bike are by Ritchey.

Schurter races on a DT Swiss OPM LTD Team Edition 27 fork. It has ODL (open, lock and drive) technology and offers 100mm of travel at 120 gram lighter weight.

Schurter races on SRAM XX1 components and the guide prevents a chain drop from this 38 front single chainring setup.

With only that single front ring, Schurter only has a brake and the fork ODL control lever on the left side.

The Tom Ritchey V6 pedals on Schurter's bike are not yet released to the public.

The SRAM XX1 rear derailleur like all other parts on this bike show the signs of a dusty race effort.

The rear cassette is a 11-42 and the largest cog is about the same diameter as the rotor on the other side.

The Ritchey Streem saddle is clearly the cleanest part of this bike and we all can surmise why.

A. Dugast 50mm tires on DT Swiss wheels with 1.65 bars (23.9 psi) in the front and 1.7 bars (24.65 psi) in the back.

A very happy Schurter crosses the line with the short track win.

Shortly after crossing the line of the cross country line Schurter looks happy again.

Fresh cold water is exactly what this fast Swiss man needed.
