General Information: A composite materials engineer by education, he first spent 10 years working for the Materials Engineering Division of the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), where he provided engineering support to several US Navy & Marine Corps air vehicle and R&D programs. In 2005 he went to work for Trek Bicycles, spending time in manufacturing engineering, the engineering test lab, and the Advanced Concepts Group before landing in the Road department and taking on the role of lead design engineer for the Speed Concept project. Carl's multisport racing history dates back to 1987 and includes Team USA age group qualification for ITU World Championships events in both long and short course duathlon as well as long course triathlon.
